The term “browser wanking” was coined when responsive web development took off – which was with the inception of the iPhone.
The act of browser wanking refers to the act of repeatedly resizing a web browser, often horizontally, to trigger different responsive and fluid layouts – to allows Front End developers to simulate how a webpage displays on different devices widths, typically for mobiles to large desktop displays.
Since the art of responsive web development was introduced for touch devices it is performed with a mouse so rather ironically occurs on large/desktop displays.
